FROM WHERE I SIT ARTICLE - December 8, 2009

Dear Friends of Shiners Hospital – Spokane,

Happy holidays and seasons greetings from the leadership team and staff at our hospital! What a year it has been for our hospital and our system. If we only knew one year ago what we know now…but couldn’t we say that every year?

What I do know is that we are blessed with a great Board of Governors and staff here in Spokane. They persevered with faith, determination, resolve and grace as we faced the many challenges put before us early in the year. We have come through this year stronger as individuals and as a team. We are fewer in number than when we started but count our blessings that most of us are still here supporting the mission we love so much.

I want to personally thank all of you for supporting us this year in so many ways. To the Nobles who support us and participated in the historic vote in San Antonio, you have our undying commitment to make this the best hospital in the system.

We finish 2009 strong. We are one of the most productive, least costly hospitals in the system. We have optimized our hospital, increased workload and demonstrated that we bring value to this system every day.

We do not yet know what challenges and opportunities 2010 will bring. But this I assure you…the Board of Governors, leadership and staff will rise to the challenge. You would expect nothing less.

May God bless you and yours during this joyful time and I look forward to seeing you all in the New Year.

Sincerely,

Gene Raynaud, FACHE
